i was wondering if you thing a twist throttle would be good,i do alot of trail riding and my thumb kinda gets numb feeling and annoys me,i dont wnat to get one of them thumbsaver things,is a twist worth it?or will a steering stabilizer help with this or should i just go with the twist?will it take some time to get used to?

Thumb for me..............I had a twist and lost a muddy race because the grips were so muddy that I couldn't hold the twist throttle open.
I use the base of my thumb on the thumb throttle.

I prefer a thumb throttle, sometimes after riding hard for a long time it feels like mine stiffens up though and gets real bad where I need to take a break and I get this pain in my forearm. Is this "arm pump?" or whatever that saying is?

I had a twist on my R and switched to thumb. For long rides it is nice to have a twist and you dont' get thumb pump :D
Also, for hard right hand corners, a twist is nice so you don't have to reach around and grab the lever with your fingers.
The downside is it's a little harder to keep your RPM's steady over whoop sections and such, and I think your wrist can be a little more susceptible to injury due to the different angles it's at. It's really personal preferance. Neither is terribly expensive, so buy both and try them. Sell whichever one you don't like.
As for getting used to it: My R came with a twist and it took me about 5 minutes to get used to. I wouldn't worry about that.
I would definately go with a steering stabilizer. I had an old style PEP dampener (non rebuildable) and I never realized what a huge difference it made until I blew out the seal and had to take it off. Definately worth the $130 if you ride fast. If you are doing slow technical riding the resistance may outweight the benefits. Buy a denton alloy and if you don't like it, sell it to me for half price :D :D :D

I like thumb better. Seen to many people on hills wreck because they started to slide back and when they tried to hold on the handlebars they fliped over backward because they hit the gas. It might of just been because they were not used to it though so....

I think that a twist throttle or a thumb throttle is your own prefrence, but i like a thumb throttle myself, just becuase that is what i got used to on my quad, but i dont think that i could ever handle a thumb throttle on any of my bikes, Just try to think what feels more nature to you when your on your quad and decide from there!

it would be much better to get a thumb extender. i was ridding a 250r with twist and going over bumps was really anoying plus your wrist will get tired after a while.

It's all rider prefrence. I got atwist on mine, it takes a little time to get used to, but once you do you won't ever go back to thumb!!

I had a twist on my R.It was great for drag racing.Riding wheelie's or jumping it sucked.I put the thumb back on it.

For some reason a twist don't bother me on a bike though.

thumb... becuase if ur jumping a jump you could pull back on the grip with a twist and roost urself into wrecking.. thumb is more safer and if ur grip gets muddy it is hard to twist so i would go with thumbbb:p :)

thumb! I had a twist on my old 400ex. I was in a VERY muddy harescramble..the throttle stuck from the mud(stuck so hard the brakes wouldn't fully function), it threw me over a hill and right into a tree. Dented up A-arms and bumper, cracked spring on my shock, and a night in the hospitle. No bad injuries though;)

Thumb throttles are much better IMO, especially for the woods!
