300ex w/renthals

I just got my Renthals (400ex bend) put on with 250x plastic to mount my key in. Only problem is i cant hardly get the key in and out of the switch. It hits the bar pad you have to really work with it to get it in there. Have i got my bars pulled back too far or what
they dont seem too far. can someone please help:confused:

your best bet would probably be relocate your key. eaither somewhere in the front end, or drill holes in your plastics and do it that way;)

Make a bracket to fit over your handle bar clamps. I did it looks good and really cleaned up my handle bar area.

It's pretty simple, I took a piece of 1/8" steel big enough to fit over the clamps and hold the key. Drilled holes for the clamp bolts and then a big one for the key. I think 1" with a notch so it slips down. I'll draw it on cadd and post it. If you want.

cleanshave, ours are kinda the same, but i have 2 more wholes for the nuetral and reverse lights and i only have it mounting to the front 2 clamp bolts

I made mine for all 4 holes because the way I mounted my handguards they mount to that bracket. It's confusing I'd have to show you a picture. I also have maier one piece front and I took my neutral and reverse lights and mounted them in front of the gas cap.

i got a few questions about this too....does this mod just take the ugly stock 300 bar plastic off and replace it with the smaller X plastic?....can u do this without rewireing and stuff like that?do you have the relocate the key and lights?....and also..could you leave your stock headlight on and do this?....sorry for all the questions ive always been curious about this mod....so could someone explain all the steps to do it?:)

I did it because I took my headlight off to race harescrambles. The lights are in your headlight so you don't need to relocate if you don't remove the headlight. Basically it's because the 300ex's body piece sits higher and you can't get the key out when a crossbarpad is on the bars.

I removed the headlight so I'll tell you what I did. Take the bar plastic off. Disconnect the ignition wires and pop the ignition out. Make the bracket for the holder and pop it back in. To remove the headlight unbolt the 2 bolts holding the bracket to the steering stem. Unbolt the light from the plastic. Disconnect the neutral and reverse lights, then unplug the headlight.

I drilled 2 holes in front of the gas cap and mounted my lights there. Some people just dont use the lights others drill holes in the side plastic.

got it fixed i moved the bars forward a little more now its ok

take it off right now u dont need aftermarket bars to take it off.
