On my old 300ex the nut was such a bear I got a dremel tool with a couple of grinding bits and just cut the locknut (the one closest to the disc), pryed it off with a screwdriver . Then I could loosen the other nut and take the clip off the axle and was good to go.

Only thing is you gotta buy a new locknut, but it works!!!

Make sure you don't grind too far into the threads though or you'll be replacing that too.....

I used a propane torch on mine. I heated that thing for about 3 minutes and then turned it off with a pipe wrench. I struggle with it for about 5 minutes before I heated it. After I applied the heat it came right off. Good luck!

the nut threads off the other way. i used an adjustable wrench and a vice grip wrench. give the nut a good spay with wd40 or what ever and let it sit for bout 5mins. then back off the nut closest to the swing arm. then the nut closet to the wheel, back it off the same direction as the first nut. pull the snap ring off and presto!!!

with a light tap with a rubber hammer the axle sould slid off to the left facing the quad from the rear.......if you have any questions just ask.

use some lock tight when put'n the lock nut back on......should hold like new. don't tighten the nut that rest up the lock ring too tight or the ring will just slip off. the second nut you can tight'n it up nice. hope this helps
