Hey guys, I know a lot of people have done the YZF and CRF conversions, and I have helped two people put them together, but I was wondering if anybody has any info on putting a Z engine in a 400EX chassis. I've got a pretty tore up Z, the frame is broken and cracked and it looks like it has been taken out of a junkyard and raced for a year. I've also got a 400EX frame that was damaged in a fire that I can test on and have been wondering what the specs for spacers and engine mounts are, or if it will work at all. I can weld and know people who can fabricate things, so it wouldn't be that difficult to make things. I just don't want to have to experiment with everything to see if it will work well enough to race. Thanks a lot.

I've said before I thought this would be cool - a liquid cooled 400ex with reverse. But I haven't heard of anyone actually doing it. If you do, let us know how it goes...

the frames are pretty close. Another thing u may try is cutting out the motor mounts on the Z and welding them in on the 400. Also the hardest thing will getting the chain alignment right!:o

lol, a snowmobile engine in a quad frame, i wouldnt do it. Automatic, no gears, no fun. I just dont get how you are going to put that in a quad frame and make it go, it would take alot of work, and some smart mechanicalism.:eek2:

Doesnt sound like, since he said he has a tore up Z, and a 400 frame to put the Z engine in.

Sorry bout that guy's, it's a Z-400 engine. The chassis and everything is really beat, but the engine still runs strong. I really want to try it, and Ill tka eht engine out and see if it looks like it will work. Was hoping I wasn't going to be the first one to do it so that I could have some guidelines or tip's. We'll have to see in the next few weeks I guess.

no, your right, i was just saying that would be hard to put in and pointless, i also saw mxz583 in his name and put 2 and 2 together and thought the same thing.
