I was just wondering what the difference is in not having the decompresion mechanism on the cam. Will it hurt anything. Just got my stage 2 hotcam any info appreciated.

no it dont hurt nothing, just make sure you take the pin and spring out of the head when you put the engine back together.

this decompression mechanism just slightly opens the right exhaust valve on start-ups. without it you will be fine. the decompression mechanism may just make the bike start a little easier, but dont' worry. my bike starts just fine with the stage 2 cam in. ;)

isnt the decompression mostly used with kickstarts?

yes, take the spring and plunger out of the head when installing the hotcam. no, you can't use your decompression assembly off of your old cam. all you do is take the spring and plunger out of the head and put the stage 2 cam in. just leave all of the other stuff on your factory cam. of course you will need the cam sprocket and bearings though.
