I have a 1995 TRX300EX and the frame is cracked close to the footpegs but on the frame not the footpegs. i was wondering if 300ex's have had frame cracking problems often.

thats the same place mine, and others have cracked. its the only spot i have ever heard of cracking, so weld it up, gusset it and your good to go.

I hardly ever hear of a 300ex or 250x frame cracking... But ya just weld it up.....

I had a 308ex that i raced hard for a year, during that time both sides of the swingarm bolthole on the frame cracked and the nut side completly broke out so watch for that, also the back shock mount area is weak i just had to ordor a frame cause i destroyed it but then agian i race hard motorcross and its tuff on frames so if you dont mx you could be okay

I cracked the frame on my old 300ex in the same spot also. Had it welded and never had another problem with it.

Near the foot pegs is where you get most of your frame problems, at least from what I've dealt with. Just like they said a weld would work, as long as your not doing hard core riding. Just makes it a "less strong", is that how you would say it??

If you are airing it out big you might keep an eye on those front shock mounts and any welded areas around them.

If you have good shocks this shouldn't be a problem but with a stock setup it is hard on the front end.

Was there a crash involved and what shocks are under those shock wears?

spiderrider04

nope no crash and those are stock shocks.

The stock shocks explains alot, but are you sure there was not at least a crack before the race?

lol, yeah some aftermarket shocks would have helped a bunch. i do believe it was cracked before because sometimes when i land a certain way i would here like a weld breaking or something from my front end. i looked and i never seen anything. so i went to the mx track to play around and i did 8 laps and that happened. we got it straight and welded it up and put in some guessetts and it has been fine, but now its my dads and i have a 400ex so its all good.

I was almost sure there had to be a crack before....The smallest of cracks can cause everything to give and before you know it, it looks like your pics.

Were the shocks blown or soft?

yes , you can't expect you frame to not crack if you are running stock shocks when jumping alot , i mena common sense tells you that.... But other than the frame crackin for everyone , thanks for the heads up , i hope i don't run into that problem but i also have elkas......

i had my shocks on the stiffest setting and no they weren't blown.
it was my 1st time at an mx track and i did my frame in good. i didn't have the money to buy aftermarket shocks, and plus i was planning on getting a 400ex so i didn't want to dump in money and then go and sell my 300ex.

had my crack there also, im pretty sure its somewhat common for you to see cracks form there... i have also had cracks by my upper front shock mount, and my swingarm... if i were you i would take that in and get it welded up and gusseted

Is the red area what was added or the blue?

DOES ANYONE HAVE PICTURES OF THE REAR SHOCK AREA GUSSETS?

Fulk,

That's what I thought. I didn't have a 400 to look at though.

I need pics of the 300 shock mount gussetts.

A reinforcement welded onto the frame at its weak-points...

Good post roostin, I just found a crack through half the frame rail right in front of the left footpeg mount. I was wondering how you would gusset that but now I know.:p
