dependoing on your conditions I'd go to a 40-42 pilot and a 158- 160 assuming your using the dynojet kit in your sig.-darren

make sure you tell us if your using keihin jets or dynojets. in your sig it says a 160 main. why did you change??

i say your definately too large on the pilot. where is the fuel skrew set at? what is temp outside? whats your elevation? you have the airbox lid on or off?

here are a few things that affect your bike in a drag race:
1. improperly adjusted throttle cable
2. heavier tires or different sized tires
3. different gearing
4. incorrect jetting
5. driving abiltiy

even with all of the unknowns, i would bet your too big on the mainjet.

how does the bike not run right with the 160 in?? we need some details. i would think that the 160 should be big enough without the airbox lid on, but that is just a guess. be careful to not get too much snow in the airbox when riding with the lid off.

i think the 160 should be enough with the lid off! i think ur pilot is way too big get a 42 pilot and try that, that is what most people use.

without the lid i do think you gain alittle bit. however, i did testing on this and i didn't gain much speed if any in a drag race. however, both required rejetting. i think i needed to use one or 2 sizes larger on the mainjet with the lid off. i did seem to gain a little torque when coming out of corners. the key is to have the jetting good. a properly jetted bike with the lid on should outrun an improperly jetted bike with the lid off. good luck
