can you run a timing key on a high compression motor? Curtis Sparks does not recommend it , but in another thread they said it was ok

They recommend not to run it as a way to cover their arse. The change in timing makes the fuel mix burn hotter, which is not good on an air-cooled motor.

I run one in mine with 11:1 and it's fine. But I also take a few precautions with it. I run straight 110 fuel which burns a little cooler and use a cooler 9Z plug.

i have that extra oil cooler, and air scoops would that make a difference to it

Yes, they will help some. The extra heat that is generated by this is all in the combustion chamber, so the main areas that need the extra cooling are the top of the piston and the valves. Extreme heat on the valves can lead to them warping, which if you don't know, is not a good thing.:p
