I highly highly doubt its possible to do.

i know you can put a 350x swing arm on. it takes some grinding of the bushings and i know someone on here was selling a specail bushing that made it so easy to put this on, i reccommend putting the 350x shock on to it is alot better with compression adjust and piggy back. well the 350x swing arm is an 1 longer and yu dont have to use a 350x shock if you dont want to.

i bet you can get the 250r swing arm to work to with alittle machining.

wel thats my 2 cents worth

Yes a 250R swingarm will bolt on a 300EX. I have a 97 300EX that last weekend I installed it on. Everything bolts on, it makes it +4 inches. You will need everything that bolts on 250R swingarm. longer brake line. I did away with the parking brake on mine. I am sill trying to figure out a shock set up though, I have a stock 300EX shock (to soft for extra length) now mounted at a stock 300EX mounting location in the 250R arm. But I beleive that you can use the 250R shock and linkage setup with no problem. Back in 95 or 96 a magizine did this swap on a 250X. That is when I found out about it, and bought all needed parts and never installed untill 7 years later on my 300ex. I will try to get a couple pics sent to you today.

what year swing arm is it?

Truthfully I don't know. I bought these parts so long ago I can't remember. But the bearing carrier said 86-89 250R, the brake rotor said 87 250R & it looks like from ones that I saw on EBAY it is definatly a 86 and up one. The ATC arms look similier but the brake pivot bolt is farther away. I also think that there is no real difference from 86 up. I hope this helps.

Well its definitely not older than 86, because thats when they started making them...:D

Hey hot440 NO DAH!!! That is why I said it is like the ATC ones if you can concentrate on what your reading and comprehend information. Are these words to big for you?

if it's steel its a 86-87 if it's aluminum it's 88-89

this is very good to know.

Anyone want to buy a 250r swingarm?

I have a 88 length, awesome shape swingarm.

I want $200 for it.

It has no cracks and has no side to side play

Here it what it is West Coast 250r swingarm ,Stock 250r caliper, brake lines, rotor rear shock, axle, bearing carrier and Master cylinder .Sorry for the crappy picture .it turned out really bad with the glare

i thought the 300ex was a link less suspension so where are you mounting the linkage to the frame

My 250R swingarm has a bracket that goes on the pivot bolt, is that where they bolt on? I don't know for sure, that is why I have been trying to study up on this setup and figure what would be the best shock setup to go with. In the end I will probably just buy an aftermarket shock for a 300EX and have it built for this setup. I know that this is the best way but if a 250R setup would work it would be a lot cheaper.

Yes bruce I think that is how its done , dont quote me though because I bought the quad like this all i know is that it works really good. It is much smoother than stock suspension.

so what do guys reccomend, the 250r swingarm, the 400ex swingarm, or a 350x one. after the 250r or 400ex swingarm is mounted up, the rear shocks of each can bolt on also, right? I know that the any of these are better than the one i have on there.

I don't know if the 400EX swingarm will work. The 250R must have a new shock mount made for the original 300EX shock. The 250R swingarm from an 86-87(steel) is +4" of a stock 300EX. A 88-89(aluminum) is is i believe +2" of a 300EX lenght. This set up has now been on my quad since spring. This is the best improvement I have made ever!! Totally awesome for hillclimbing, even with only one arm!! contact me at lifted6@webtv.net for a pic of my quad or swingarm.

the alum version of the R swingarm would be a +3, i would get it, plus a stock R shock that has been rebuilt, the swingarm has less unsprung weight, and would work better

????????????????ANYONE???????????????? i mean someone has to know i'll post a pic of what i'm talking about. its the thing on the long swingarm bolt. is that where the linkage goes on one side? and the other to the frame because the 300 frame looks like it could posibly work not sure cuz the engine is mounted there to

honda416exman

ok i just took off my swing arm heres apic, the r swingarm is an 86 and it is about 3in longer

honda416exman
10-27-2002, 11:11 AM
ok this is the thigie i was talking about, i say we hack one end of it off so it dosnt hit anything when the linkage is moving, the middle hole bolts to the pivit bolt and i'm guessing the end goes to the linkage. is this rite?

That would be the motor.Mount the 86-87's had that while the 88-89's didn't.

I have a complete 250r rearend sitting in my basement and a 300ex with a cracked swingarm.I am going to go with a new 300ex swingarm and parts though. It is already a proven design and no rigging.

Whenever I get my taxes back.I plan on buying either a 125 dirtbike or a 250x and tricking it out.I may use this stuff on that if someone can tell me definitly how to do everything.
