$4400.00, PLEEEEZE!

stock 400ex 5500.00
pipe/filter 300.00
turbo 4400.00
= 450r + $3700 in the bank

maybe so, but a 400ex with that turbo kit and tuned right would make a 450r look like a powerwheels toy!

That turbo would work great on the MX track and in the woods. Best $4,000 you could probably spend on the quad....:o

I think it would work great because a small turbo like that could spool up real quick, but that small of a turbo would exceed its compressor map for wide open racing IMO. Its still a very well planned kit for the rich boys

You have to look at the compressor in terms of the motor. That motor is too small to produce enough exhaust gas to turn a larger turbo. If you went larger driveablity would go way down because it would take to long to spoll. Trust me they probably put alot of time in playing with different hot & cold sides untill they found one that worked the best.

Probably in the 100hp range, but I think reliability would become a factor. Like I said, a toy for the rich boys

I'll keep the boost under control in my 11 second Typhoon, not on my atv.:blah:

did any of you look at the dyno chart??? this turbo doesnt spool up quick, it starts around 4500 rpm (right where the stock hp levels off), and the peak horsepower is at over 9000 rpm. how long do you think a 400ex can run at 9000 rpm? i thought that even with a rev box the peak 400ex rpm was about 8500. and that is not a mantainable rpm level

the stock 400ex revs to 9100rpm and they did put a aftermaket rev box on it b/c the peak was higher than 9100rpm so...............and yes your engine wouldn't last long if your allways in the higher rpms.

Acording to the dyno chart, the turbo doesnt make real power until its well into midrange. That would prob be a great kit for duning....but looks like a lot of clutch work in the woods.

By the way, anyone catch the oil that comes with the kit? Whats with the "Yamahalube"? LOL:D

I agree on the usability of the boost, but in like tight MX or SX where you never get out of 3rd...I think thats what its geared for. I have a turbo truck, thats enough maintenance for me. Turbos luv their routine maintenance.

I'm sure someone will buy it or a new member (with it) will come on the board soon enough and enlighten us on this cool mod.
