I downloaded a popup blocker off of kazaa lite, and it seems to work fine. If a popup comes up, and its not already on the list of things for it to block, simply add it to the list so it doesn't come back.:)

What version of Ad-Aware are you using, also make sure you "check for updates now" before you run the scan.

I use ad aware 6, I check for updates everyday and run it everyday, same thing with spybot... I am thinking it is having something to do with my cookies or something...

Mine was getting bad so I bought a spyware killer disk at walmart for $7 and tried it. It found 17 files on my computer but only destroyed about half of them but I was able to identify the rest and have found and deleted all but 2 "gator"n files. It's alot better though.

I just got my computer brand new for christmas... I don't want to have to reformat already.... I mean... I can do it... I have done it a million times before on my old computer...

there just has to be SOMETHING that can be done other than reformatting....

Clear your temp files / history. Quit looking at all that damn porn and you wouldn't have that problem. If you have an anti-virus program, disable it then run your adware programs. Try to disable system restore and run housecall.antivirus.com

let me know if you have any questions

Go to Start/Control Panel/Administrative Services/Services.

Find the thing running called "messenger" and disable it. It is a Microsoft featured used when networking PC's, the ad freaks have found a way to manipulate it to open a port on your PC to bring you their pop ups.

I disabled everything in adminstrative services that I know I dont use, others, just put them on manual.

Download updates for ad-aware, and/or spybot and run.

Go to www.housecall.antivirus.com and run a check.

Go to start/run/regedit/Local Machine/Software and scroll and look for ad programs and delete them.

Go to start/run/regedit/current user/software and do the same thing.

If you are using Microsoft 98, XP, go to start/run/msconfig/startup, and uncheck anything you dont want running in the back ground.

Let me know what kind of operating system you are running.

I would disable everything in your startup except for any virus protection....

And check it every so often to make sure you havent gotten a trojan or worm that has changed your startup settings....

Big time Ad worms to look out for:

Gain
Gator
Digstream
Bonzai
Alg
Nwiz
Save

They will be stuck in various places thru out the pc, but if you really want them dead, and cant delete them, I suggest scrolling the registry and deleting them....

Registry:

Start/Run/Regedit/

Let me know.
