I mounted the assembly under the fender on the frame, it is sort of tucked under the scoops. I bought fullbore and they came with a handlebar clamp bracket, I cut it in half and mounted it so it was out of the way.

you will drain your battery with no igniton switch, you could do it if it was kickstart, but a xr400 side case and make it kickstart

just make sure that your lights are off, and leave it in 1st gear when its parked and your battery should be fine, I don't see what else would made it run dead:confused:

You can take the key out completly and like 2006 said it won't drain the battery.

I did wire it with a kill switch for about 5 minutes. The way my kill switch is wired if you press the starter button it still turns over, just won't fire. If you leave it in gear it will jump forward if someone touches the start button. I thought of my nephew who is 5 and he likes to sit on the quad. If I had it wired like this it could throw him off.

What I did is wire a 3 way switch in. That way you don't have to worry about the key and you can hide the switch where ever you want.

key....switch.....same concept, and the key can basically be hidden anywhere 2

same concept yes. But I can't loose the switch. That's why I eliminated the key.

When I put my race cut on, I put the key at the center part of the bars straight down to where there is a metal bracket that all the cables go through. I put my key in there and zip tied it. It ain't going no where!:D

as long as yur lights are off and stuff your battery should die. i leave mine on all the time just with the lights off. i left it on for a day and a half and i hit the botton and she fired right up. just make sure that it is gear. i like the swich idea. i think i'm gonna make one.
