View Full Version : Anyone tried to put a motor together by themself?

well...i figured i would put together my spare motor...so i could put it in the quad...c how it ran.

the motor is totally apart...like nothing together....just looking at all the parts freaks me out.hehe

so..im gunna read over the manual...and c how exactly everything goes together.

ill let u know how it turns out...

here is what it looks like now(b4 i started)

i thought you said it was completly dismantled from the looks of it there's 3/4's of it all ready together :huh

all you have to do is put the cylinder and head on, that's cake work

theres nothing inside the casing....the case is just sitting together.
so..i have to put...EVERYTHING in still

boy that looks like fun,im to scared to take my motor out of my frame again and start operating on it,ive done lawn mower engines b4,but got bored of it and just threw it out,lol...i want to get a junk engine and see if i can make it run again just for the hell of it,good luck man

I've had a few motors tore completely down like that. Just keep consulting the manual if you have doubts about anything. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

You can do it!Take your time most pieces will only fit in "one"way.I would polish the cases or PC them while your at it.Just make sure there are no extra pieces when your done.:D

it's always better to have extra pieces rather than not enough :p

yeah... i need a piston for it:)

its only a spare motor....and i have a fresh one in my quad...so i have some time to put it together...and make sure everything is right


i started polishing the cases...just havent finished yet...

ill get some pics soon

I'd do it. Just use the manual and go step by step and double check yourself as you go along. It can be done. I've seen a couple people do it. When I tried a rebuild it ran for like 2 seconds. LOL. I found out later that it had a bad stator. After that it ran perfectly. It ended up being a fast little yz80.

the best part is when you put a motor together for someone and have extra pieces....then they bring it back a week later complaining of a noise or it isn't running right etc... They give you a funny look when you say "so that must be where those extra parts i had left over went".
