450R initial shipment update from my dealer

My Honda dealer's ATV sales manager just told me:

The latest word he received from Honda is he is now expecting (6) 450Rs to ship to him on January 28th....not just the one unit as previously told.

I am confirmed 3rd on their list. He said I should receive the call to pick it up the 1st week in Feb...barring no further shipping delays.

Any other dealers receiving more than 1 unit for the initial shipment?

Yeah, i think i agree. Possibly they are reading the forums (or just talking to the dealers) and realize the die-hard Honda fans (that have pre-order deposits) are really getting anxious (and even pissed) about the delays...

My dealer moves the largest volume of Honda quads in the Northeast...possibly even the east coast. So I'd like to hear if there's another (big) dealer getting >6 450Rs on the initial shipment...

Well I asked our sales manager today what the scoop was. I watched him look it up on Honda's dealer web site and we are supposed to be getting one on the 28th then the next one is supposed to be comming on March 31st then one at the begining of April then 4 at the end of april. I just got off the phone with RMC (the dealership I think I will be getting my bike from) and he said that they were supposed to be getting the first one on the 28th then the 5 more on the next day. BUT! he said that he got a call and is not saying for 100% sure but he thinks they will be getting the first one on Monday!!:D :D So you can bet your bottom dollar that I will be there on Monday to see if it shows! I'll let you all know for sure if it does.:D

Talked to the Honda dealer in Poplar Bluff, MO, and they said they are getting 1 at the end of the month, and it's already spoken for, but they weren't sure when they'd get another one. They also passed along that IF and when they got another one it would be FULL RETAIL, and about $140+/month if I financed it. The 400EX is looking better by the minute...

Yes I just checked ours yesterday and it shows we are getting one on the 28th. I also talked to another shop and they said they are getting one on the 28th and more the 29th but honda called and said they were moveing the date up and they MIGHT not guranteed but might have it on Monday!:D :D I'll defineately let you guys know if it shows on Monday.

That's just it I don't know for sure. That is why I am NOT saying it WILL DEFINEATLY be here. Just supposedly that is what they told me. I can't confirm or deny it. I'm not getting my hopes up but hopeing for the best and I'll let you guys know if it shows up.

I just got off the phone with my dealer here in PA. He told me still the same, They will have the first on January 28th. And they are getting 2 more 3 days later. I got the second one. That would be January 31st. a Saturday, he told me I could take it home that day, so lets all keep our fingers crossed! (I'm spektical)

so it looks like the 28th is still the ship date, which means they should be in the dealerships a few days later. has anybody checked with there dealer to see if any are on the shipping report yet. i know when i go to my dealers they have an shipping notice from honda which tells them every bike due for delivery that week. so make sure you guys ask your dealers if they have anything on the shipping report.

Well I just got off the phone with the dealer and he said the units hit the local warehouse on Friday. There was a problem with the bank so they couldn't release them to KGM today because the bank is closed for the friggin holiday:mad: :mad: . SO it will be released to KGM tomorrow and the dealership should have it tomorrow sometime but he said it would probably be later tomorrow so I might not be able to pick it up until Wed.:grr:

They are in the Northwest, ours arrived today. We are located in Vancouver WA. If you want to see it in person the bike is at Pro-Caliber in Longview WA. We will try to pick it up today. The bummer is that this one will not be ridden. It is hards to look at such a nice machine and not be able to go out and give it a good thrashing....

I called and talked to the dealer I got it at on Friday and he said they were getting it in Monday. Then I got a call on satruday they said it should be monday. I went there monday and it wasn't there yet and they said it was because a mess up with the bank and they wouldn't release it. Then I called Tuesday and they said it would be released on Wed. Then I called on wed and they had it. I faxed the credit app and went there after I got off work and picked it up!

Ya my bro's garage isn't very big. I'm staying with him for now and between his truck being in there and his two banshees and my 400EX there wasn't much room for the new R but you can bet we got it in there!:D :D

well I won't get a chance to really ride it until saturday. I've ridden it easy around the cultisack but haven't really gotten on it very hard yet. It feels like it is a little week on the bottom wich is to be expected on this type of hi revveing engine. The power seems to come on decent in the mid range though. I haven't opened it up to see what it will do on top and haven't tried to wheelie it at all as I don't want to make a bad name for the quads in my neighborhood and don't want to piss off the neighbors. Only thing I can really complain about is the front hood rattles a little at a certain rpm. Won't take much to fix but kind of anoying. Other than that she is SWEET!!!!!

I went by a dealer this afternoon and saw it. It looks mean as hell. I asked if the could start it up. It kicked over the first time and to my suprise it was extremely quite. I wasnt expecting it to be that quite. But with the HRC kit or an exhaust it should give it the groul I was expecting.

Very quiet and starts really easy.
Mine started on the 2nd kick for the very first time it was ever started and always started within the first 2 kicks every time I have started it.

Congrats on the new quad man . Good to see that the general public is now getting them . Like someone said earlier .. give us the low down on the quad and try and find someone with a YFZ 450 . I just bought the YFZ 450 and I'm impressed with it . Hope you will be impressed with your TRX 450R . Nice bike ... but the hood is the ONLY thing that turned me away from it . I guess it'll grow on ya ... or a simple call to Quad Tech will solve the problem . Good luck and happy riding !!!

The first part of the VIN is 478. I know if it starts with a 1 that it is made in the USA. My 400EX starts with 47 also so where were they made? I thought they were made in the US.

I have a friend with a YFZ and I think we are headed to Sand Lake this weekend to test them out. It won't really be a very fair test though because his has a pipe and K&N on it already. Plus he is about 50-75lbs lighter. However I am a better rider so we will see. Once I get the HRC kit and head work and piston in it then we will see again how it is.

All the Phoenix dealers got them today. I sat on mine. Decisions, decisions. I think I would rather have a long travel 440ex for @$4500 then spend $7200 for the 450R, knowing that I will drop another $3500 in goodies over the next year.

What time are you guys planning on leaving for Sand Lake? I would kind of like to go, and I know where we could get a stock YFZ and someone to ride it to test your 450R against...Chris, that I usually go to the dunes with, his dad has a bone stock one. And with my experiences with the piped YFZ, it wouldnt be a good comparison, at all. When I have my CRF done we will have to all have a go.;) :blah:

i have owned a 250r before and i have nothing aginst yamaha or honda. i did not mean to rattel you guys so much. i think it is great that we at least have a choice of 2 450's. that is an accomplishment in itself. no hard feelings to all of you and lets just ride. ps if i see someone on the trail broke down i dont care what he/she is on im going to help. so we can all ride.

Just spoke to my dealer again, and the info he gave me (when I started this post) has changed.

First of all, I am in Mass. / dealer is in NH.

He is now saying that the 1st unit is on its way to their shop, and will be here in the next day or so. The remaining 5, on their initial order, will be received within a week or so after that.

So, being 3rd on the list, I wont see mine for another week or two. But at least they're coming to this coast...

You probably realize this but Japan is on the Pacific Ocean side of the world. It would be a long trip to ship from Japan all the way to the Atlantic side to the East coast! Easier to truck it across America and drop those beautiful 450r's along the way:cool:

I don't see where it says. The first digit in the vin denotes the place it was build and I know 1 is USA and J is japan but it starts with a 4 so I'm not sure if that is just aonther place in the US or somewhere else.:confused:

So you guys know. The 450R's are made in the states. That's what the Serial number says. The crate that mine came in said it was shipped on December 15th. They have been stored at Hondas westcoast distribution center for some reason for over a month. Guess we'll never know.

i went to my dealer on saturday, i walked in and he said "i knew i would be seein you guys" We are the first on the list and he said that day so far he has had more than 10 people come in asking about the 450R...he said his order still said the 28th so it should be there soon. now originally he told me he was going to hold it for 3 weeks to let it sit on the floor so people could see it. As time went on this made me more and more overly pissed, so i asked him about that and he said because of the high demand, he was gonna let me take it home because he knew how much i wanted it. wow!!!! that made my day!!!

I am getting my R through Richard's Honda, I am first on the list. I have had my deposit on it since end of sept. or first of oct., its been so long I can't remember. I live at Rogers in the northwest of the state. I didn't get a very quick go at my deposit, and to get the first unit I had to go to little rock, which is only three hours away. atv mx is doing really well up here. I have four tracks that are no longer than 1hr and 45min away at the farthest one.

They already had an hrc kit in stock. It looked nice but ill prolly do it myself.

Initial shipment arrived at 1 of my 2 dealers today.

Just saw it 20mins ago sitting in the showroom. Apparently it showed up this AM, but I didn't make it there in time to pick it up this evening, so I will be there at 9AM to pick her up.

Anyways, 450R's are now in NH/Mass.
