Hi, im wondering what size tamers i should go with the 9.5s or the 11 inch ones. I have a lone star axle in the rear so the extra width of the 11 inch ones wouldnt be that important, im looking for some feedback from people who have ran both. Which one would u prefer?

I just put some 20x11x9 Carlisle tamers on my stock EX. Might have ridden 30 minutes on them so far. These things bite hard. I can't even do donuts in winter clovers anymore (very slick ground cover foliage). I did notice that they are not balanced (i.e. EX shakes pretty good) when riding on pavement. I guess I miss the darn near bald Ohtsus.

What I think I heard one time is for 4 strokes the 11 inch is better and for 2 strokes the 9.5 is better. But I think it is mainly a personal preference on which you like better.

what makes the 9.5's better?

9.5's handle better. They are more precise and slide better, but I kept ripping them off the bead. Even with beadlocks guys still have problems. I now have 18x10x8 Razr MX and although they don't grip quite like Turfs on hard stuff, they are a lot better IMO. They stay on the rim and still hook up great, just not wonderful like Turfs.

im running the 20'' regular razrs right now, and my track is hard packed on basicly all of of the track except the corners, there pretty loose, it just all depends on how they water the track, so it verys day to day. do u thikn the razrs would be an overall better tire to run? im pretty set on the 9.5 tamers now but dont want to lose the tire in the race. Im not going to run holeshots, so the razrs and the turfs are whats left. Maybe i should even concider the klaws. but im looking for performance. not just overall. Like the maxxis razr Saying "Go for the win not the holeshot" lol i always thought that was clever:p

if your going to go strictly wide open areas no areas prone to getting flats go with the kenda klaws 18 inch tires. kenda klaws mx are not the strongest when it coems to getting holes

depends on the track.i like 11's on a hard pack slick track and i like 9.5's on a loose ground track.

I put my Tamers on when the tracks get dried up or hard packed. They put some serious power to the ground and I love'em! I run the 9.5 too. You can't go wrong with these!:D

They're actually 4 ply, and are pretty tough tires. I wouldn't say they are real prone to getting flats, at least.

I was wandering where you guys got 9.5 in. wide tamers. I then noticed that that size comes in only 18 in tall tires.

I wanted to keep the stock height tire (20 in) as not to lose any top speed and the only thing offered was an 11 in wide tire, so I bought those.

I'm hoping after the tires wear down they'll be able to slide more.

Good luck with your tire selection.

You're correct. Most mx 18" tires are only 2 ply. Kenda Klaws are 4 ply and last longer than most. I've had mine for a year and still have quite a bit of tread left. Plus no flats.
