I am having some starting problems with my 400ex. First of all I had been riding in muddy conditions and I washed it and put it up. It started fine each time till the next week I went to start it and it just wants to crank over. I have a good spark, and I think gas is getting to the plug. If anyone has any input pm me or leave a post here.

to chek spark at the plug pull the plug out of the head ground the threaded part to the engine (dont touch it w/ your hands while cranking) and crank the engine watching for spark. three things to check FUEL, SPARK,and TIMING if you got them it should fire up

You said that the 400 went for a swim, so I would drain the float bowl to check for water in the carb and try a new plug.

id pull the plug out, clean it, then put it back into the head, thencrank it over for a while, holding down the throttel all the way then letting off, if that doesnt work, pull the carb off, and see if it is squriting gas!

mabey check the spark, and or compresion

im gettin the pics back today or tommarow il get u one soon

Could it be my cdi box and can i test it before I buy a new cdi?

don't waste your money on a new CDI box. If I was a bettin' man, I would just change your spark plug - it will fire right up. Honda's are almost bullet proof!

Try dumping a little bit of gas down the sparkplug hole and see if it spudders. If one of your friends has a stock cdi plug it in and see what happens. I wouldnt spend that much on a cdi without being sure thats whats wrong with it.
