tip: aluminum doesn't rust ;) it will oxidize "sp?" but that takes awhile...and i'm not sure if it would on a pipe...so yeah your good to go :)

For even better results use your bench grinder with a few buffing wheels on it. Start out by taping over your logo, or even better drill out the rivets and pop it back on when your done.Remove all screws or bolts you can, its easier to buff without them. Buy at least two different grades of polish, the sticks work great, make sure one is the final stage. the first one could be either the heavy cleaner or mid stage, does not really matter. You will use the first stage for a while, then change to the final stage. Use a peice of metal to "rake" the wheel, and get the residue off the buffing wheel periodically. You will also want to buy two buffing pads. They have a soft and firm. Use the firm for stage 1 and the soft for stage 2 (finsh polish). I would suggest using a mask for your nose and mouth, and wearign goggle is not a bad idea either, its a messy job. After all that, use your Mothers and a really soft terry cloth and its super shiny.
I can make it look like a mirror in about 2 hours.

i just used really fine grit sand paper, probably had 5 hours in sanding alone on the parts, then i bought a compressor and a dies grinder and the rest was simple :blah:

i sent the side cases off to nacsracer, gave up after about 10 hours and still wastn shiney. He does great work at a good price, pm him

looks like you got a pretty good mirror finish going on, at best results it should look just like a mirror.

Anyone ever do a clear powder coat over their polished aluminum stuff to keep it looking nice? Does it work, or just chip and create more of a problem than just repolishing once in a while?

Mothers works great and if u have alot of aluminum to do , do it like i did. Get a buffer and some buffing pads, rub some polish and buff it alot, whipe off the residue with a towel and take a clean buffer pad and hit it again. i did that with all my skidplates and they turned great, they looked chrome, and it only took me about 15 minutes to do all of the skids...
