What's the best route to take? Replace the 400EX pivot bolt with an expensive aftermarket one, or replace it with an OEM bolt? Thanks.

Jeff at the Quadshop will put a grease zerk in your stock pivot bolt.

I can get an OEM bolt w/o a grease zerk for about $20 from Service Honda, while C&D Racing sells an OEM bolt w/ installed grease zerks for about $40.

Woodward Specialties sells a solid stainless steel pivot bolt for about $50. Baldwin sells one, but I couldn't bring myself to pay that much for a bolt.

What should I do?!

I would get the OEM with grease zerk, unless the Woodward has one also.

The Woodward doesn't have one. It is just a solid stainless steel pivot bolt. I didn't know if I should just go with the $20 bolt and keep it greased all the time, or go with the $40 bolt and not have to worry about removing it.

Plug the other end or put a zerk at both ends and drill two small holes that line up with the spacer tubes that ride on the needle bearings in the swingarm. And walaaaa,,,,,,,No more frozen pivot bolt... http://ricoracing.netfirms.com/Smilies/jammin.gif

My stocker has yet to bend from racing MX and XC.. Sounds like your bushings were shot and wore out, which caused play in the rearend and then caused a bent pivot bolt. I dont' see how one could bend if it was securely fit thru the frame and spacer tubes with no play.
