I have a bone stock 2003 400EX, and am wondering if there are any mods you can do, at home, just little things, without new parts, like any suggestions at all would be appreciated! Anything at all that can be done to help performance! I know when I had R/C's (yes alot smaller, but same general idea) things like baffle in the exaust, take it out for more power, things like that... Thanks

take the baffle out, flip rims(wider),and ClEAN YOUR AIR FILTER....that was something we did when we first got the 400(it was used)and it made a pretty big diff. bc its was so dirty

whenever you increase your air flow your gonig to have to rejet, so you WILL need new prts but it will only set you back a couple of bucks :)

Big question I just thought of... do stock 400EX's come with a inline fuel filter? if not, that would definantly be worth the 3-4 bux

Well I tried to flip the rims, and ran into the problem of having the valve stem in the way, it would hit the break caliper when the tire spun... so that is out of the question... but I did put on my 12" spidertrac's off my ATC 200X

You can take those little black heel-guards off of your quad that are attached to your foot-pegs, it makes the quad look alot nicer in my opinion.

This is what mine looks like without them.

dont forget o take out the slack in the throttle cable the dealer leaves in there. they only put it at like 75% open......

yeah take those heel gaurds off, put a whole in your airbox lid if you arnt goign to be riding threw water, remove you choke and put a 42 pilot in, there like a dollar. There is not inline filter, but there in a intank filter on the fuel spicket.

Cut out you baffel in your spark arrestor leave the endcap on your pipe it looks better.

I plan on taking the heel guards off, but not until i get some nerf's! The baffle is more up to my dad, since he has to deal with the sound!

Is this true about the throttle cable? With the slack it only gives 75% throttle?

And back to flipping the rims... is this a logical process? if so, how do i go about fixing the valve stem situation? and another question, when you tighten the lugs on the front tires, it has a tapred edge on the rim, so that the lugs caues the rim to line up perfectly, on the inside of the rim, there are tapered edges, but not as big of a taper, will that cause a problem?

Thanks

dont flip your rims, looks stupid and can break then easy

take up the throttle slack and to chekc if its opening full throtle take the cover off the throttle and see if the arm stops before it hits the side.
