After a very exciting year of GNCC racing, it was time to Award some of the Best ATV Racers. The weather was great for everyone to travel to the Banquet accept for the frigid temperatures. The high temperature on Saturday was only in the Teens at Morgantown, WV.

The Banquet kicked off with some of the GNCC Sponsors outlining there programs for next year.

Jim Pinkston represented ITP Tires. ITP will be increasing its Contingency program to Include more Classes & 1st will get $150.00, 2nd $100.00, 3rd $75.00, 4th $50.00, 5th $25.00 in XC Bucks to use for future Tire purchases from ITP:

Classes:
Pro-Am, 250A, 250B, Open A, Open B, 4 Stroke Stock, 4 Stroke A
4 Stroke B, Women, Junior, Vet, Senior, Sport

Also, the Contingency form will only have to be filled out once to be eligible for XC Bucks, and everyone that submits form will receive a Free ITP T-shirt & Decals.

Also, they are stepping up there track side service to support their riders.

Tireballs are going into mass production and are going to be available to all the racers for 2004. Tireballs has been around for years for Motorcycle, and now they are going to take ATV racing to another level of speed without having to worry about flat tires.

Great Job, Tireballs & Rod Cooper

Twin Air Filters just released a new Air Filter Positive adapter and Filter, and they will be offering Filter Exchange support to the Pro Riders.

Also, they will be involved with Silent Sports to offer silencer repacking at the GNCC Events. The new AMA db reading is now set at 96db, but the GNCC limit will be 104db. ATV will be checked at tech inspection for their decibal reading and the reading will be printed out. If it is beyond the limit, they will need to make adjustments or Visit Silent Sport and get their silencer repacked.

If a rider looses an exhaust during a race, he or she will be Blag Flagged. Also, randomly racers will be checked at the end of racers to verify the reading is still within the rules. If it exceeds the rules, the rider will be given a warning the first time.

Again, It is great to see twin Air getting more involved with ATV Racing.

Matt had a rough first half of the season, but was able to come on strong in the end and return to his Mr. Consistency Form.

Maxxis Jay Goebel "Sponsor of the Year"

Maxxis Tires and Jay Goebel were very deserving of this award, and it great to see Jay get recognized for all of his hard work. He went out of his way this year to make sure everyone had tires mounted to race. He is a great asset to GNCC racing, and I hear rumors that he will have even more to offer this year.

Chris Borich "Most Improved Rider"

He had an incredible year finishing 2nd Overall. Chris Borich has incredibly be able to increase his National every year, so to continue his trend, he must be #1 next year. A Big Congrats goes to Chris Borich for everything he has achieved.

Chad Duvall "Sportsman of the Year"

Congratulation Chad!

William Yokley "Knuckle Head Award"

William was unable to attend this years banquet because he is training in Florida, but last year he practiced on his table dancing skills. The table is now a wall hanging.

There is never a dull moment around William :D

Sadly, the GNCC lost two racers this year to tragedy, and they were remembered at the banquet.

Joseph Plummer raced in the 16-24 Novice Class and fnished 4th in his class at the General and 24th overall. He was involved in something he loved, and it is a shame to loose a fellow rider.

Friend, Tyson Hilton accepted the "Tear Drop" for the Plummer Family:

Admin
01-11-2004, 05:25 PM
Joey Kish, was also lost this year in a tragic work related accident. He was developing into one of the Best GNCC racers before he was lost. He amazingly finished 3rd Overall at the John Penton as an Amateur, and was exciting about run Pro in 2004.

He will be deeply missed, and his Friend Michael Pellegrini accepted the "Tear Drop" for his the Kish Family

Another Great Racer. He made the podium several times this year and unfortunately ran into bad luck late in the season. I glad to have Santo as an ATV Specialist for EXriders.com.

Andy Lagzdins finished an Impressive 5th in the Pro Class :D

He has been training extremely hard and with the help of a great friend & terrific guy Tony in the Pits I expect him to keep improving. I am honored to have Andy Lagzdins at an ATV Specialist on EXriders.com

Pro Production:

Chad Duvall won the Pro Production after racing most of the year on a Four Stroke Tech 400EX and the later half on the YFZ450. Chad and William made this class extremely exciting to keep track of, and I look forward to see what Chad will do next year on his Yamaha in the Pro Am Class.

William Yokley Finished 2nd in the production Class, but was unable to attend.

Greg Trew traveled to all the races from Florida this year and finished an impressive 3rd in the Pro Production Class. He pushed his 400ex to its limits.

Admin
01-11-2004, 05:53 PM
Johnny Gallagher (Johnny C) finished 7th on his Z400. He will be racing again next year on his Z400 for HMF Engineering. It is great to have Johnny as a ATV Specialist for EXriders.com

Congrats Johnny :D

Admin

Frank Grimplin also raced a 400EX this year in the Pro Production Class and did an excellent job for a guy that didn't even start racing until he was in his 30's.

wingnut you did fine. and conradulations on a fine perfomance this past season.

it was an excellent banquet. the food was probaly the best id ever had at that type of event. it was refreshing to just hang out and chat with everyone and not be all pumped up for a race.

i think i was able to talk with everyone...i tried atleast.

ballance is an excellent champion and it carries off the track as well.

borich was his usual laid back self and looked to have a great time and seemed very excited about the upcoming season. go get them chris:D

i actually saw matt smiley smile. i wish he wouldnt kick himself so hard. he is a great rider.

johnny g was all dressed up and lookin more like a guy from GQ then a mud~monkey:p another great rider that seems to have rededicated himself to ride harder and get on the podium. best wishes johnny , you know ill be cheering for ya.

andy lagzdinz. well here is a local fella who was born to ride. not only a very smart racer but an awesome example of a good person. i admire him for what he can do not only on a quad but on a motorcycle as well. my hats off to you andy and im wishing you all the best this coming season.

santo de risi. this was my first time actually meeting him in person. he has a fire in his belly and determination running out his ears!!! he is ready and i expect him to very well this season. i wish more people in this world were as honest and outgoing as santo.

chad duvall. i have met chad at the races in passing but i actually got to just hang out with him. all i can say is that after spending a few hours with him id give him anything i owned. a man that has supported atv racing in every way imaginable no matter what curves are tossed his way. he has re ignited his passion for racing and i dont think many will withstand the onslaught he will bring this year. chad i can honestly say you are a man of great integrity and you have my respect and full support.

there is many more people i will address but i dont want it all done i one post:)

Usually at 3. This is the best track the Mid East series has in my opinion.

Chad, the track is a little less than 2 hours from Randy's house.

They say that it is in Morganton, but it is south of Morganton on hwy 18. It is about halfway between Morganton and Shelby.
