how good are the lectron carbs compared to FCR and stock for 400ex?

I built my motor for bottom end and tried out a used Lectron. We had a he11 of a time tuning it in. Once we did get it tuned, it ran real good in the mid to top,but I lost every thing I worked for to get the bottom end where I wanted it because it didn't have an accelerator pump.

Lectrons are 2 stroke carbs I had a single 40mm on my banshee it worked great but I dont think they will work well on a 4 stroke,

i see them go cheap on e-bay and that must be why. since i like low end it sounds like i should avoid them.

A Lectron carb is basically the same carb as the FCR without the slide bearings and accelerator pump. Actually the same carburator engineer designed both!

Lectron is 200-300 dollars cheaper.

As far as the bottom end thump, the theory is that a motor can run as lean as you want on the low rpms (the leaner the low the more bottom end) without damaging or melting the piston as long as the rpm is low. leaner condition more snap

lean on low rpm and rich on top end

J, talk to Tom Carlson at TC racing. This is the carb he recommends and we all know he knows a thing or two about a 4-stroke

I know that with the 250 fourstroke bike motors that lectron carbs have picked up as much as 5hp on a dyno with the carb alone. 1 more HP with a full Yosh pipe.

I used the on big KZ 1000 drag bikes but the thats wide open throttle use only.I had one on my Banshee it worked good I would'nt use one myself on a small 4 stroke.
