Print Spooler Problem

Can someone help me out with this. My computer says that my Print Spooler is not working correctly. It won't let me print or anything. And I have no idea what a Print Spooler is? :huh

What operating system, what printer?
Have you tried shutting everything down (pc and printer) and trying again?
If all else fails I would remove and reinstall the printer.

First off, thanks for replying.

The computer is a Dell Dimension 4400 running XP.
The printer is a Lexmark X83

I have tried shutting everything down and I have tried reinstalling the printer. But, it won't even let me reinstall it. It says that the "Operation could not be completed" when I use the "add printer". It says the the print spooler is not running. Any ideas?

Still no luck. It said that it was already set to automatic. Any thing else?

I think I got it. I went back to the services and it said that it was stopped. I just pressed start and I think it's going to work. Thanks guys for your help. I really appreciate it.

or drop down to a command prompt and type "net start spooler"
