I, am thinking about going to a 14 tooth front sprocket. I have heard that it makes 1st gear to low. Does it make a real big diffrence in Bottom end. I am not concerned about loosing a couple on top, because I usually trail ride and play race. Thanks for your input

I think you'll like the 14 tooth front sprocket, especially if you're trail riding and running 22" rear tires.

I have a 2002 440 ex with head mods, XR400 cam, full Yoshi system, and WB rev box. Stock a-arms with Works triple rate w/rezzi. I run stock rear shock and swingarm, but a Lonestar 2+2 axle. Also I run stock size ITP Holeshots all around.

I tried a 14 and it's a noticeable difference, deffinately more bottom end. Now with the extra muscle I just stick with stock gearing unless I'm riding in the sand with paddle tires, then I go with the 14.

Good luck

If you don't find your self looking for another gear when you are in 5th then a 14 would work good for you........

a 14t with 22's is close to a 15t with 20's

Try it for sure! Sometimes it's a matter of preference...:) You really have to ride to know.

I aggree a front sprocket is fairly cheap mod for the seat of the pants test. I personally did not like it. I felt i was allways looking for a sixth gear. I liked running a 39 tooth sprocket in the rear and a 15 in the front better for a little more grunt in the low end. Since the 416 kit stock gearing is working the best for now.

Good luck
