I have a 2000 300EX, mostly stock, yesterday i adjusted my front shocks, i made them as tight as they can go. I noticed the bike handled a lil differently after, i knew that would happen, but what my question is, is by adjusting your stock shocks so that they are all the way tight, does that make it so they will not bottom out as bad?

setting the preload changes the ride hieght and ride itself but a shock will bottom out no matter what the preload is set at...if it takes 200 pounds of pressure to bottom it out,,the springs don't care,,your still applying the same amount of force.

It could help as far as it give to you more compression travel
When you sit in the quad, the spring is compressed a little.
You can help adjusting the preload, giving to the shock 1 inch more of travel in the best case.
