How difficult is it to change the Cam?

What are the steps to doing this?

Does the engine have to be pulled out of the frame?

Thanks

It depends on your ability. I don't think it is hard at all but I work on them for a liveing.

You basicly have to remove the tank and the plastic shield under the tank, pull the head cover, pull the cam chain tensioner and then pull the cam. Swap gears and put it in, time it and put it all back together. This is kinda the short version but you get the idea.

No you don't have to pull the engine.

If you do install a new cam you really should put all new rockers in it as well. used rockers on a new can can take out the lobes on the cam prematurely. So if you want to do the job right get new rockers as well.

just buy a service manual. it will go through all of the steps and it is easy to understand. it is rather simple. i left my stock rockers in when i changed cams. most people do leave the stock ones in that i talk to, but you can change them if you want. good luck
