where can i find out if its stolen?

ok,my buddy told me bout this 400 that his neighbor found in his field,its all good shape and stuff,bone stock:D and he said well never mind the price:D but it looks like someone tried to rip the VIN # off,so how can find out if its stolen?:huh

You ever thought of notifying the authorities and see if someone reported one stolen, If your buddy says his neighbor found it in a field I would say chances are good

look on the top a arm it should say "STOLEN" in BIG black BOLD letters. on the bottom it will tell who it was stolen by:

you dont just find a 400EX sitting in the middle of nowhere!!! You better report this to the police!!!

If it was your quad that was stolen, I'm sure you would hope someone would call the cops if it was found!

skiped an important dealtail! he found it in the,ya know the story,he towed it up to his tool shed ,been there ever since

would you please complete a thought.... all you do is start a sentence then say... "you know the story" or "well nevermind"... this entire story sounds fishy... sounds like your buddy stole someones quad if you ask me.

I know if I found a quad on someone's property, I would contact the land owner first, then if they dont know anything about it, call the cops.

No matter how tempted you are to buy it just bring it to the police, I would be really tempted to just take it but I know I would be PO'D! if someone took my quad and didn't report it to the police if they FOUND it in a feild with the VIN scratched off...

i know he didnt do it for damn sure!ill get the VINs tommrow and run it thur the sheriffs office ill try to find the guy that owns the ground he knows me but i looked at it today but i didnt stick to long didnt wanna get in trouble! all i got was the year:rolleyes:

Ya can't just rip the vin off of a 400EX. Its stamped into the frame in the front. Behind the front bumper. Now if it was a Z400, your story would make more sence, as the vin tag is tac welded on the lower frame tube on the L/H side.

As far as finding out if its stolen, just ask the guy who wants to sell it if you can run the vin by the police to see if it was reported stolen.
