I recently got my basket case 300ex back together (new rings) and now it will idle but if you give it any throtle it is slow , and it seems like it will bounce off a slow revlimiter. Sounds to be 2000 rpm in nutral. Is this normal? Just ordered a jet kit just hoping this will solve it. ANy suggestions?

What's your carb jetted at (pilot, clip, main, fuel screw), also what are your engine mods, temperature and elevation.

i had a similiar problem on my 250ex.

the problem with mine was that the needle and main jets both fell out of their place and into the float bowl....this would make it extremely rich.

check to make sure all of the jets are in place....and you might want to play around with your main jet, sounds a bit rich. mine would pop and sound like a snorting pig after 1/4 throttle

Found my problem the cam chain was stretched out causing the cam to jump a few teeth. Got a new chain on and fired it up and the damn thing dropped an EXHAUST VALVE. SO left it alone for today. Where is a good place to find a stock valve or replacement. Also anyone know where I can get a set of titanium retainers and keepers. Also ne one know of a place to port my head while I have it off?
Thanks again
