i just recently picked up a 2004 Honda 400ex..

wondering which exhaust is better for my money's worth:

-HMF Slip on
-HMF Full System
-Yoshimura Full System
-Big Gun Exhaust

or if you have any pictures or any others that arent on the list it will be deeply appreciated it..

and yes, IM Searching! :D

I would go with HMF, Sparks, or TC. It depends on how loud you want it. Just my 2 cents.

I want it loud, but not so loud where its sounding like its "useless"

meaning, a noticeable one, but not one that screams...

you know what i mean :)

If you are considering a full-system and are willing to spend the money on Yoshi pipe, I would consider Sparks racing pipe. I didn't go with Sparks because at the time it wasn't an option.

Dirtwheels did a pipe (I'm not sure if they we're full or only slip-on pipes) shootout for the 400ex a while ago. Since this shootout, I'm pretty sure there are some new pipes out there. Both links have the same data, it's just easier to read on the second link, but there are dyno charts on the first link.

Good luck in your decision.

Yoshimura full system. They really know how to build 4 strokes.

I really love my big gun full system. It made some really good gains in the low to mid power. I would definately recommend it to anyone wanting very noticable power gains with a real nice deep tone to it.

I would go with a LRD. They have great all around power. They have more low to mid than high. It just depends what type of power you want to go with. I have not found any better throttle response than with the LRD. Good Luck!!

The White Brothers E series slip on is hands down the best pipe out there and so proven. Refer to the previously mentioned shootout at.

Yes it's a couple years old but you notice there's no other comparisons since to show different.

Neon,

You mentioned that you wanted a loud but not to loud of a pipe. Are their any noise restrictions where you ride? If no then the Sparks X-6 is a good choice. However if you ride in places where thiere are noise laws like me, then you need to make sure what ever system you get has a legitimate quiet core that will reduce the noise to legal limits. The only one that I know of that does this and posts the noise and dyno results is HMF. I bought a PC T-4 because I thought it was legal at 96db, wrong. Luckily the HMF quiet core fits my pipe. Anyway, something else to consider.
