Hey, i have a 400ex with a K&n Airfilter, and thats it for engine mods. What pipe is best, i am leaning toward either the WhiteBros Sbend, or a sparks. I am looking for mostly lower and midrange power improvements. Which pipe will suite me best? I am open for suggestions. Also, does grinding the welds down on the headers make a big diff? Thanks
Also is there any other cheap mods that will increase preformance, powerwise?

Go with any engine biulders pipe. Sparks, LRD, Hetrick.

HMF is cheap, sounds good, and gives good performance. $209

I love my HMF.:)

I have an LRD system that I bought a few months back and I love it. I was very suprised at the power gains it gave me. I think the LRD gave me more of a mid to top end power gain but just drop a tooth on the drive sprocket and you'll be fine.

I have LRD , DMC Alien and WB . for lower - mid range, I would go with LRD ... The DMC is a great pipe but was hard to get jetted very loud pipe 114 decibals.(sp) there all pretty good pipes , but for the money do the LRD...... Even400ex is right on with the gear drop in the rear . on my 440 with the DMC I have a 14 C/S and a 38 rear .....

pro circuit t-4 slip on is good, has good low-end, but mostly full exhausts give u top end, also Sparks X-4 is good too......

I have a White Brothers Pro Mega Full System. I love it, sounds good very noticible increase in power, mostly top end. I paid $420 for mine off Rocky Mountain atv.com, free shipping on most pipes.

Dirtwheels did a pipe shootout for the 400ex a while ago. Since this shootout, I'm pretty sure there are some new pipes out there. Both links have the same data, it's just easier to read on the second link, but there are dyno charts on the first link.

Good luck in your decision.

I have the X-6 Sparks pipe and i love it. I have heard the LRD and the Hetricks and they both sound good but i think the sparks is louder. All are good pipes though and the price range for all of them are pretty close

I have a Sparks X6 on my 416, and it's awesome. You need to keep in mind that the X6 was designed to work best with a modded motor, like mine. I think the low end on mine is right around the same, i may have dropped a little, but the mid gain and massive top end make up for it.

Thanks A LOT. Your opions will definatly help. If anyone else has anything to say, feel free. Also is there any cheaper engine mod that will increase performance? Thanks, i should be getting a pipe soon, i am leaning toward hmf....

Thanks, Ryan

No one mentioned, but you also can look into the Yoshimira slip-on.

i must say that the hmf is a good pipe, i rode a 400 yester day with an HMF sip on and it was worth it, i can only imagine what the full system is gonna be like when mine arrives

Hey, i was just wondering. what is loudest, the hmf, lrd, or white bros. I would like to get the power without an exess of noise. Also, does the quiet core work, and does it noticably decrease power?

my hmf is way louder than my old e-series but it was a 300ex so i dont know if it makes a big difference. the hmf sound is way better though id recomend hmf to anyone

Ive had the Yoshi pipe, Big Gun, MBRP and the LTE. I've been around the White Brothers as well. For high flow motor needs, such as a 440, and a pipe that is also quiet and spark arrested, the LTE is the best.

This was the first version of the Dual LTE that I tested. The new version coming out at the end of the month is quieter and offers even more horsepower than the one above.

I have a pro circuit T-4. It works good for my setup of Stock motor with airbox lid on. But I don't think it breathes as good as hmf and other pipes.

yea my friend has the whitebros, it is loud but not in a good way. I really dont like the sound of it. That dual lte looks realy realy nice. Bet the flow on that is increadable.
