It will make the shock a little softer, and you could run into some other complications as well.

On the 250r, when the rear shock compresses, many people have hit the rear brake caliper against the exhaust silencer, denting or scratching it but not usually breaking it. This could become an issue.

Ordinarily, when you bottom out your suspension, it is designed so that the shock is the final stopping point. The shock will compress until it locks, and can't compress any more. The travel is designed so that the shock will bottom out BEFORE the swingarm comes all the way up and hits the airbox.

This is the danger. Depending on your particular lowering strut, and how far you have it extended, your swingarm could contact your airbox, exhaust pipe, or some other component before your shock bottoms out.

So, you might be ok, you might have problems. It's your call, obviously. If you want a guarentee, replace your lowering strut with the stock dogbone.

If you adjust the strut to the shortest position it will be the same length as stock.-at least it is on my 400ex.

It's a bit of a pain to adjust, but it'll work fine.
