I am trying to set my 250x up to do a little flat tracking. My rear measures 49" and is adjustable to 51" wide. What would be the best way to get the front end to be close to the same. I really need the front end to measure 49 inches if possible. I have a set of 250r stock a arms but I am thinking I need something wider. Has anyone ever put +1 or +2 250r a arms on a 250x or 300ex?

Anyone got any ideas or want to share there setup?

Thanks

if stock 250r arms fit, then the +1 or
+2's will fit.....im not sure about shocks though.

I know they would fit on the quad, I am worried about how it would handle with the +1 or +2's and what wheels to use with them. I was hoping someone had tried this or is currently running a setup close to this.

why not just buy +3 a arms made for a 250x

those are prob hard to fine? maybe..idk

and dont worry about handleing....the wider u get...the better the handleing usually gets

why not just go the easy way and flip the rims? its not hard to redo the valve stem on the otherside or to get one of thos kits where its flush with the rim.

450 dollars is the reason why I don't just buy +3+1 250x a arms. I could pic up a set of used 250r +1 or +2 for half that price. A coat of paint or powdercoating and at most I have around 250 in them.

Has anyone done this, to give me an idea of what it looks like and how it handles while racing?

If u are going to be doing all flattracking, you could use the 250 a-arms and run the stock 250x shocks to make it wider and sit lower. This would probably work for just flattracking.

we used to have +2 400ex a-arms on a 300ex with 3out-2in offset wheels... it was wide. it had the shock mounts moved up on the frame and was running 400ex works pro-series piggyback shocks. handled great and was real good for MX.

+2 a-arms for a 250x put me at 47"

if you notice from this picture, the way we did it, you still keep the fender brackets, the shocks are at the right angle, and it it sturdy.. best picture i had

You don't happen to know what it measured at the widest point do you?

i had a 400ex with a +3 LT front end and ssd shocks with 2out-3in offset wheels measuring in at 50" while it was sagging. we put them nose to nose and the 300ex was about 1" narrower so it was around 49".... but remember the offset wheels on the 300ex was 1" wider on each side than the 400ex. so you would need this exact set-up to get 49".

Thanks, That is exactly the information I needed and I had already planned on buying front tires and wheels soon anyways.

Regardless of what they say in the Pontiac commercials, or in one of the posts above, wider DOES NOT always make it handle better. When your wheelbase gets as wide as it is long, your quad will not track nearly as well in the rough sections. 48 to 49 inches MAX for motocross, a little wider for TT or flat track. Anything beyond 50 is wrong.

I have to stay uder 50" because of class restrictions anyways. I figured I would go with 49" just to be on the safe side.
