Pappy, what is the max temp powdercoat can handle? I was watching the "Biker Build off" on Discovery channel and they powdercoated a Harley exhaust flat black. It looked very good. Is this an option for us guys? Thanks for your time.

They make High temp powder that can withstand 1400 degrees.

If your thinking about PC'n your can, shoot me a PM. Yes it can be done. I'm gonna do my WB can to match my oil tank then rivit the badge back on it;)

Damn thats a nice lookin oil tank. Is that just a basic color red? or does it have a mirror finish? Sorry I don't know jack squat about powercoating...:rolleyes:

I took the badge off my E-series to shine it up a bit, it has an adheasive backing so be very careful, maybe you can reuse it. I can't:p

Thanks, its actually a crappy pic of Translucent red over a near chrome base. I just have a ****ty camera:rolleyes:

Thanks Joe, for the heads up. I'll have to remember that. I'm trying to figure out a heat shield for the head pipe then I'm going to get it cerami-coated.

ive done alot of exhausts in the black and it works fine. i havent had much luck with the silver. most of the exhausts i do get jet coated. most are rated for 800 to 1500 degree's.

Hey Soggyrider, I actually was talking about the header. My bad, I didn't specify. I was thinking about doing mine in black, do you have any experience with how well it will hold up?

Your best bet is to stick with a ceramic based coating. I personally don't care to much for the high temp powders. The ceramic coatings hold up and look better.

I don't, but I do know of a couple people that have tacked a nut onto a pair of hose clamps an than used them to atached their stock sheild onto aftermarket headers.
