I have an important question

I have 2 questions.

1. I have a 250r frame, plastics everything but the motor. I was thinking about putting in a CRF450 motor or a YZ426 engine in. What one do you think would have the better performance, and aftermarket support?

2. Will any of those fit in a 250r frame?

i believe those engines will be too tall to properly be installed in a R frame

hmmm I always thought that was a common conversion...Ive always wanted a 400ex or 250r with a yzf250 motor in it to play around with and for the sport classes..

I think the 400 frames are more popular for the yzf and crf conversions beacuse for 1 like pappy said the ex has a taller frame beacuse of it being a 4 stroke and needing more room on the top for the cam and head and such. And 2 the ex frames are a lot newer and probly havent been stressed as much as most 250r frames have been through the years. Not to mention there a lot easier to find in good shape.

I'm sure you can MAKE it fit.I have seen 250Rs with 400EX plastic and Cannondales with R plastic so if you have the patience I'm sure you could do it.

the 400ex plastic fits nice on a 250r but the 250r plastic doesn't work good on the 400ex... a guy did it on here and it looked horrible!

to put 250r plastic on a c-dale u need a walsh subframe, gas tank, etc... its like 1000$:eek2:


the 250rs u see with dirt bike motors are aftermarket frames... u have to move the frame rails down to fit the motor... its hard to do in a stock geometry frame...
