think i found my base gasket problem

i was looking at a micro fisch on service honda and noticed it showed a o-ring between the sleeve and cases. this quad has no such o-ring on it. i guess whoever tore it down before me never put one back on. i take it that this is a needed part and if so why does one not come with a top end gasket set. i wouldnt think you could reuse one ????????????

On a 400ex? A o-ring? I never saw one on my 400ex.

I had problems with my base gasket leaking and found out the cylinder was warped.

with the 440 you were running there's not room for the 0-ring with the bigger sleeve, my 440 doesn't have the 0-ring either,

Mine is a 440 sleeve and has an O-ring there.

i pulled the 440 cylinder off and am running a 416 now. i had posted on here asking if it would cause any problems doing this and all here said i should have no problems doing it. the sparks 440 sleeve has to have the cases bored so with the stock sleeve there ia a very small space between the sleeve and cases. i have had 2 base gaskets leak since i put the stock sleeve back in with the 416. this time it sucked dirt in and ruined the piston. gotta find a fix for it,tired of tearing it down to put base gaskets on it an now having to replace the piston too.

My sleeve is from Wiseco. Sounds like some 440 sleeves are different from one another. Hmmm....I learn something everyday.:)
