You will not loss any bottom end, with the 13 you have to shift out of 1st very fast and you don't use it that much. With the 14 you be able to use 1st gear more and you will gain more top end and it will make the 300 more fun to ride all around.

hey the 14 tooth wont hurt you much at all. ya it will slightly but you wont notice it .
i did this and the 300 basicaly needs a 14 tooth anyways. it helps alot with the shortness of 1st and helps alot in the 4th and 5th gears.

i would do it it is a cheap and easy mod to help you out

I also have a 300, and I run 22" XCTs, and at the moment I havea 14t on the front. I'm taking it back off for a couple reasons. With the 22s, you're getting about the same gearing as someone running a 14t and 20s, and I couldn't get my case saver to fit with the 14t. One or two mph is not worth it to me to run without a case saver. Too much money and hassle replacing a case half.

I had a 14t laying around so I tried it. I have a pipe and filter and that's it. I DID notice the difference. I didn't like mine like that, but you might. Losing some torque and not having a case saver was not worth the couple mph on top end.

How many times are you going through the woods wound out in 5th anyway? Not very often.

Just my opinion.

I took a pencil grinder to my case saver. removed about .050" stock and it fits great. I dont think the .050" will cause it to be too weak. still better than not using one at all.

I run 14t with 22" dune hoppers, and still walk wheelies forever. but now I can drag race with warriors no prob.
