Anyone know if Baker is going to be back with us this year?? Or if Trew is going to be in for a full season? I thought I also heard rumors that Page wasn't going to be back?? Can't make predictions til ya set the playing field?!?!?! Can't see Bill losing the title quit yet though. Had alot of pressure at the end of last year, but I think he will be able to put another one under his belt next year. Then I'd say look for Borich to reign. I don't see anyone winning like Bill did last year though.....

if the weather is the same this season as it was last...id bet ol' stoess gets his share of time on the podium. mud has a funny way of finding things wrong with quads and this year we will see a full field of new ones.

if its a decent weather year id say the top 5 from this year will be even closer with borich stepping it up yet another notch. i believe ballance will have his hands full defending his title this season and the new names to the pro ranks may be a bit faster then some think.

in any event its shaping up to be a bar banging ...stump bumpin good time:cool:

I'm with Blue Flash, it's going to take a few races to figure things out on the four strokes where these top two guys have the experience.

The top two I agree 100%. Derisi I give a third, he's a hard worker....... He'll reap the benefits, he's going to suprise people.

I know it has been a few years, but I would love to see what would unfold if Yamaha put Barry back on a YFZ450 w/ factory backing right now. Bill was always the #2 guy to Barry, that's why I say what I do.
Nothing against Bill, he is sooooo scary fast it is unreal! And, I think the pace has stepped up considerably since Barry left ATV's. It would just be intresting to me since Barry is kind of like our hometown guy.

I know this is not the right spot to post this but I didn't want to start a new thread for it.

Did anyone realize the all of the riders who placed in the top ten in the class in the 4 stroke A class qualify to race in the PRO AM CLASS!

I think that is pretty impresive.

Does anyone know if any of those people will be moving up to pro-am or if they are staying in the A class for the following season?

Only maybe 3 of you listed ballance as #1, and several of you had him outside the top 3........................Are you people high?

Bill has been the class of the field winning over 70% of the races, and all 4 championships since 2000, and he only gets faster every race!!!!

Ballance
Borich
Smiley
Yokely
Duvall

there is your top 5.....................In that order!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ballance is a true champion!! Its in his blood and that makes him hard to beat. Its hard to have to Kings of the Hill.... two roosters in the hens house so to speak..... People have been saying for years that Borich was up and coming...... Now he's #2!!!!!!!Whats next??????? Good luck Chris!!!!!

Note: All the focus is on the Ballance and Borich show... A former # 2 (Smiley) spent alot of time dialing in his thumper last year, and spent most of that time training with the current #2!!!! I know dropping from the #2 spot pi$$es Smiley off bad!!! Look for Smiley to sneak his way onto the podium at EVERY round next year.....I think after this year people started counting him out...i think it was a wake up call that the other racers did not need... I think Smiley will be on a mission next year!!!!! Good luck Matt and Chris!!!!!!! PA. crew!!!

is that how I am percieved?

I was just pointing out that the most dominant atv rider on the planet is still in top form, and isn' going to let young Mr. Borich (talented, and determined as he is) walk off with his title without putting up an epic fight!!!!

Chris is scary fast and ultra motivated, but lets not forget how many years Bill spent being faster than Barry, but still wering the #2..........winning has a formula, and speed is only one component. I am a huge fan, and good freind of Chris's, but I think even he knows if he wants to wear the #1 plate he is going to have to wrestle it away from Bill at each and every round.

Bill and Chris are in a class all there own, the championship will belong to one of them at the end of the year.......................just as of now my money is still on Bill, although I do hope to see Chris make a heck of a show out of it...................man is that kid exiting to watch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Johnny is right, Chris is exteremly fast but he still needs to calm down a little and be more smooth to take the title away. I noticed he did smooth out as the season went on but he still has some learning todo as did Bill and Berry in their first few years as pros.
I have no doubt that in a year or two he will get the #1 plate.
I think this is going to be a very exciting year!

Oh ya, Johnny C will be top 5 this year :macho

 I thought I taught you that lesson last year! They must be right about teaching old dogs new tricks! They never learn!

Back on topic, I am a big fan of Smiley and Borich, but one thing has to be said. To my knowledge Bill and Borich are for the most part 100% racing when not at the track, where Smiley has a family life with a full time job which got to cut into some of his time for training, and testing. Is this why Ballance and Borich got the edge?
My next question, are you getting faster if your not on the ground once in a while wondering how you ended up there? Granted it may not be the best to do it in a race, but...... I do agree that there is a formula to racing and Bill got it down, but Borich got one vital part that not alot of other racers do.........the ability to fall back several places due to a mishap and be able to make a charge to the front of the pack in a short amount of time. And do it several times a race if needed! Bill and Chris are awe inspiring to say the least! Good luck to all and hopefully they will show us an action packed season! :D

Since I started this thread I'll throw in my .02 cents. I agree with all of you about Ballance "having it" and I'll even agree that he is the most talanted rider currently but not historically. It's really hard to say who will be on top with such an even playing field. That's why they are called predictions. I simply based my opinion on the fact that Duvall has had the most seat time racing a 4-stroke. His learning curve should be over. Yokley has had a lot of seat time racing also. We all know the stories of Smiley and Borich racing the yamahas at thier local races. This goes for all the past Pro P riders as well. Remember that Bill did not win on either his Suzuki or Yamaha last season. Rest assured he will adjust as any champion would, I just think the rest of the 4-stroke guys will get an early jump on the champ next year. This way, by the time ballance gets his 4-stroke legs, he'll have too far of a points deficit to get the number one plate again.

ballance didn't do to well on the 4strokes at last years gncc's

No, he did not. Look at the times and results. I did not say he is not a good rider. He just wasn't winning on the thumper. There are two equalizers, Mud and 4-strokes. So in 04 look for more even races, more competition, and different winners. I do not look for Ballance to dominate like the past 4 years. I look for closer racing with the races decided in the last miles of the lap.

Don't froget that Bill had the series wraped up when he went 4-stroke and was using the races to test and tune. ;)

i still think bill will be amazing on the 4stroke, but i think he has more work to do this month then riders such as chad duvall and william yokley just to get ready..they already have mroe rcaing experience on them and i think bill is much better with a two stroke(thats until he gets completely used to his 4stroke).what quad will he be on in 2004?

Borich rode the 2-stroke all season without trying a 4-stoke in an actual gncc, but after watching them on tv I am now an expert lol. My thoughts are that Borich is the fastest one out there and needs to learn not to try and check out once he's in front. If he uses his head, I predict that he will have the title at the end of the season.
