Installing Works shocks with rezzies

Bought some used works shocks with rezzies for my 99 300EX and was wondering if the valve at the top of the shock faces the front of the bike or the rear of the bike? I got no instructions with these and the braided line seems to be uncooperative when trying to mount it in place. Anyone have these? How do you have them mounted?

In the book it says to mount the valves facing backwards, it worked for me.
