On the air mixture srew is (in lean and out rich) or the other way around??

On a 400EX I belive it is a fuel screw so it is rich out and lean in. The best way to tell is if the screw is on the engine side of the slide it is a fuel screw and if it is on the filter side of the slide it is an air screw. So fuel screw is rich out lean in and an air screw is rick in and lean out.

I thought fuel screws were used on 4 strokes and air screws were on 2 strokes?

not always the case. i believe that a lot of the mikuni carbs have an air skrew used on 4-strokes.

Genreally that is the case but what I said is an easier way to tell for sure.
