I took my new 250ex through some water and the shocks in the front are squeaking. This is actually the first atv Ive ever owned with suspension as my only other bike was an atc 200 three wheeler. I understand from searching on this site that I should put grease where the shocks bolt on. My question is, do I just unscrew the bolts and pull the shocks right off? This may sound stupid but they aren't going to come flying out at me are they? I just don't want to do this wrong and get hurt or something. thanks,

just prop the frame up so that the front wheels are off the ground, and pull the top and bottom bolts out. they won't come off and fly at you, don't worry.;)

You might want to put some threadlocker on your shock bolts after you remove them.

I have access to a small hydraulic press and I rigged up some supports angled with the coils. Then slowly compress the piston and the slotted end cap slips out. Doing it this way watch your fingers in case it pops out. If not you need a spring compressor. Mine are going to Pappy Monday but replace the bent one!!!:eek2:
