I Have a 250ex and i want to know the best things to do to it to make it rock/ POWER

Ok check it out i have this 250ex and i can ride great but now everyone that i ride with has 400's and **** ...... i can beat most of thim just in riding abillity. But coming out of turns and everything they just eat me in the straights ..... ... .. wats the mods for a 250?

supertrapp ids2 complete system, with k&n and dynojet jet kit....i ran that on the recon and it gave it a ton more bottom-mid and a lil faster on top end. i was able to beat 300ex's in drags with that setup, and its the same engine so you should have similar results.

He's right for the most part. You could try putting the exhaust, rejet, and filter on it and it will help it some but there just isnt much power there to extract...I know, I used to own one.

Best thing you can do is do what I did...do no mods, save towards a better quad and try to hang with em in the mean time. :cool:

Trade it in, you can find 400ex pretty cheap now.

My friend had a bad 250ex it had a pro-circuit pipe, jetkit, and k&n air filter and holeshots it could haul just get that and it will help alot

i would just start looking for a faster quad but if you just want to give it a little balls get a pipe filter cam and rejet which will give a bit more power....just dont plan on keepin with the 400s if you keep the 250

to make a sound diff,power andgetting to top end faster,take your stock lid off,take an old (clean!) furnace fiter measure/cut then soak it in filter oil and hold it down with your stock clamps an some duct tape,this worked well on my recon with stock my big gun will be here friday( ) and it made a he!! of a sound diff,and yes you will need to rejet or dial a jet second setting try

You can make a 250EX somewhat quick like able to compete with some lightly modified 300's or so. I highly doubt 400's. Here's what I would do if your able to:

Carv out end of snorkel----FREE!
After market filter (KnN)----$35-40
Rejet Carb.----$10-15
Port cylinder head (may not gain much at all but still, probably to much work for the results)--FREE
Full exhaust-----$300

*May have problems with clutch slipping I don't know*

I Carved out the snorkel and jetted the carb and it made quite a difference in throttle respose. Made most difference down low and mid range and some but not much noticable on top. I used a 110 main jet.
