I can't quite tell from the photo Pappy...is that a Blaster motor in 400 frame, plastic, etc...? Wow! If that is, I'd love to see that thing run. I assume this is one of your masterpieces....no doubt a 'one-off' eh?...lol!:D

Pappy

from what i was told its an LRD pipe ....it goes long side the quad instead of out from the frame.( i geuss they make a few different types for the blaster)

anyway, it was then modified to be long enough to reach the blaster engine. i thought it looked factory cuz i didnt have any idea that it had been modified.

why put a blast motor in a 400ex frame? to race in the 200 class or soemthing?

Pappy
12-31-2003, 11:31 AM
when they originally built this hybrid it was so that the rider could compete in 200cc class. the blaster was a bit small for his build so they used what was readily available. a 400 with a blown motor was the donor quad for the frame...the rest is typical aftermarket stuff. the frame could be converterted back to a 400ex with teh removal of 2 small rear engine mounts.

that is trick how long did it take to build and where did you get the idea from i thought of a blaster motor in a 250ex frame

Pappy
01-04-2004, 05:42 PM
i didnt build this, i just powdercoated it. it was original built for randy lehr when he was ayoung upstart. after he was done with it it just sat. burgard wanted it for his daughter so he tore it down and we cleaned it up. the credit for the excellent build goes to burgard and mr. lehr

i was taken away with the almost factory like look of the build.

so pappy is that a good thing or a bad thing that it looked stock? :p

thats cool there a bunch of conversions like that at NEATV-MX

Pappy
01-04-2004, 06:00 PM
i guess if ya like 400ex's its cool. i think they chose a 400ex for the egornomics because they were close to a R chassis. the thing kicks but IMO...i like it alot

burgard was relating to me that another cool conversion is a 200x engine into an R frame. i saw a pic of one here, but ive never seen one in person. it maybe a better choice for my son, but i will have him sit on my R and then on a 400 and see what will feel better to him.

This quad uses a walsh 250r chassis which the mootr is a 300ex motor......i am going to build a blaster/250r or blaster/400ex

i'm in the process of building a blaster in a 250r right now as we speak should be done with in 2 weeks

pappy i think you misunderstood me but ohwell lol

i really like the conversions for the minis they are awesome.

Pappy
01-05-2004, 04:02 PM
ok i re read it and hopefully gotcha this time:p

i mean to say that the conversion looks like it was a factory installation. i didnt see anything that was hacked or looked rushed. the round tubing of the 400ex frame lends the entire quad a "race ready " look. the mix of chrome and polished along with the one off custom parts is just too damn cool. i saw 2 conversion blaster/80 hybrids sell for over $10,000 and neither were as clean as this.
