I was at the local track this weekend and there was a guy that had taken the muffler off of his Raptor, will this add a ton of HP and noise or just make it very loud.:huh

Ton of horsepower? No. BUT, there is a reason race cars run straight headers. Less resistance = more air flow. More air + more fuel = more power.

Probably wouldn't feel the difference, though.

will it harm the engine at all? maybe by lack of back pressure or somthing?

As long as its got a headpipe then theres enough backpressure to keep damage from happening.

I dissagree, it dosnt give you more power, it'll give you NO low end power but some kick arse top end. not just all around power. for the 4-wheelers I beleive they dont rev high enough to get high enough air flow so they'd really gain any top end, so the guy with the raptor lost tons of hp, maybe gained 1-2 hp on the way TOP rpms.-darren

No i think you just lose so much low end and midrange that when you hit top end it just feels like you gained more top end, but really you lost alot of power.

my conra is just a little more quiet than when I am running off the headers...shoot the guy with the raptor twice for 2 reasons....

1. He has a raptor
2. he is running off his headers

Yep, if I ever race at the Daytona 500, I'll just slap on some mufflers so I can out-torque everyone else with my backpressure.

I live in north Texas but it was at a track just inside of Oklahoma, and it was on a MX track. It sounded like crap though.

i was on a mx track when my silencer pipe bolt wiggled loose and came off. it just landed right in the whoops lol. but thats now what i said ;) i guess i learned to check all the bolts this time lol. it felt like a loss of power for me. and it sounded crappy.

I think you'd have to tune your carb to get any gains from it.
