if you are trail riding then I think you are wasting your time and money by cutting your fenders. if you are racing a 250ex, I suggest you save your cash & get something a little larger.

you want to cut something? cut some holes in your airbox.

Everything you ride through gets thrown or splashed up on your legs, body and face.

I don't think I would cut them.People would probably make fun of a 250ex with cut fenders.;)

just my 2 cents

Why would you want to shave them? just because it looks cool? I don't know if that is enough of a reason to have dirt, mud, and sand thrown all over me every time i ride. I could see if you were racing or somthing and it was for airodynamics (sp?).

i trail ride all the time, yes i do get muddier.
put i have offset wheels and i ride in tight twisty trails, the cut fenders allow me to see the tires as i pass quickly through the trees...i also like it when im jumping (dont ask me why)
i would cut them!

Well I rode back to back shaved/non shaved, and I will not shave mine now. You get very wet, and there really isnt that much more control on the jumps. They do look cool, but if you trailride just remember, bill ballance and a whole lot of better riders then us ride with full fenders (xc has mx sections too)

Part of the reason I like my shaved fenders is because it makes it a lot easier to do the fred flinstone reverse. But if you plan on hitting any mud at all I definately would not shave them.

I used a tape measure (or ruler), a magic marker, a jigsaw, and a disc sander.

How many inches do you have to leave.
do you know any site that tells you.
please help

i cut mine off just becuz i got bored, and i love riding without them. yea you get alittle more mud on you, but your going to get muddy anyways. if you don't want to get dirty don't go riding. i wouldn't ride with front fenders anymore. i feel that i can see the ground and where i'm riding alot better. i feel safer. just cut them off. al

skull-

is that the stock headpipe on your quad?

skull
02-27-2002, 05:44 AM
yes.
the pipe got pretty dirty and started to get that surface type rust on it so, I sand blasted it and painted it with some header paint. I think it's good up to 800 degrees. so far its held up really good, better than the stock paint in fact. plus it looks cool
:D
heres a pic with the pro circuit T4.

how do you like your pro circuit t-4?

skull

the head pipe?
it's just silver. I dont remember if it had some kind of goofy name or whatever, it looks like silver in person.
you can get the stuff at any local auto parts store. just make sure you get the pipe real clean. I sand blasted it, then used some kind of prep stuff (I think it removes any oil or something). then, I painted a couple coats or so, let it dry real good. then, install the pipe, start it up, and let it bake on for a few.
the stuff is really durable, it hasn't scratched, chipped, rusted or anything since I put it on (about a year or so ago).

the T4 rocks. it looks good, light as a feather, and gives gobs of torque. the only problem is, is that it's too loud. I had it rated at 97db. Silver Lake Sand Dunes is enforcing Michigan's sound laws this year which means I will have to get to or below 94db. I have the quiet core insert and it cuts down the sound a lot. I hope it's enough. I'm also going to re-pack it with some fresh packing before I go. the last time I rode with the quiet core it really seemed to cut the top end off. it felt even more restrictive than the stock pipe in 5th topped. it really seem to bog down at the higher RPMS. I may have to re-jet it for the quiet core. and maybe put my air box lid back on.

killa250ex you should not cut your fenders it may look cool but sometimes when you hit mud it burns you and if you had shaved fenders it would burn you face and every thing

RideRed04

Yeah, getting muddy is part of the experience, but when you have water constantly being thrown on your legs, it isnt so fun. For XC style riding, fenders are the way to go. I dont get the guys that trim their fenders just to look cool.
