I am new to quads so bear with me.
I picked up this project quad a while back and am finally starting to build it.
I have a few questions concerning the front suspension
It is a 1986 250-R with a 350-X motor.
The lower a-arms are longer and the PO had extended the upper arms with tube to match the lowers.
I am trying to find out what the stock length of 250-R a-arms are.
I am trying to find out what would be a decent upgrade.
This setup only allows 14 inch maximum length shocks (eye to eye)because of the way the balljoints are angled.
Could I rework the upper arms?
Would changing out to 400 EX a-arms be a decent change?
I need to rebuild the works shocks before I do any decent riding but I don't want to build these shocks just to rebuild them later if I upgrade the arms.
This quad will be mainly a play quad spending most of its life in the Sierra's with a couple runs to Pismo.
Financially, I can't go out and buy new arms and shocks.
Well, I'll stop rambeling now.
Any help would be great.
Thanks, Ken
