Just curious what experience people have with removing their airbox and changing the jetting. I'm running 128 on the main right now and have no mods.

Are you sure you want to remove the entire box and not just the lid? You would have to watch out for water without an airbox.

Anyways, I would try bumping the main up one size at first and see how it runs. You may benefit from moving the clip down one notch on the needle too.

Oops, sorry! I did mean just the lid. Thats what I get for typing a post after riding all day.

Hey dirtygirl, well I don't run a lid on mine but I do have mods, now as for jetting I would take it off & then do a plug check to see what it looks like. Mine is still running rich I think, it's very finicky when it comes to jetting so when I find a decent spot I stay w/ it LOL I'm can't remember what size of jet I have in right off hand:rolleyes: I will have to go look sometime good luck I probably didn't answer anything LMAO!!

Already did a plug check with the lid off and I know its too lean. I'm just looking for a ballpark estimate on what size jet I should get.

It depends on your elevation but with a K&N and no lid I was running a 128 MJ, clip 3rd from the bottom, and a 38 pilot. Ran good perfect color for me.

You live right at sea level right? Stock MJ is 122. Since you did a plug check what color was it? If it was white, it could be the fuel you are running. Your plug should be black and wet because a 128 MJ is super rich. Have you messed with your needle clip or fuel screw at all? Also, I don't think your going to have a noticeable difference with the lid off considering you have no pipe or filter mods.

Hmmm well I think I just remembered what size of jet I was running I THINK it's a 118, I run a Dynajet kit in it, it still is rich but I hate going down anymore but i was thinking about it.

I used to have a Dynojet kit in mine. Ran a 116 DJ with a KN and full FMF exhaust at sea level. My plug showed it was still rich though. But I might have been off on the fuel screw because that was before I knew how to do plug chops.
