250 EX same as 250 Recon ????

My dad has a Fourtrax 250 Recon that I decided to mod a lil bit in order to have more fun with it. I think the recon has the exact same engine as the 250 EX. Lots of things seem to be the same on the two machine. Could I use Aftermarket motor mods for a 250 EX and put them on a 250 Recon, like Exhaust system, K & N, jets, carb, things like that. Could I use 250 EX wheels and tires ? And finally could I convert it to 250 EX plastics

the jets, tires, and carb you should be able too convert. but i dont think you could bolt the plastic or exhaust right up. the braces are probally in different spots
