Had to get a new chain today for the old yammer-hammer....and I need to take about 7 links out. It is a standard D.I.D chain, non-o-ring. How do I get the links out, I don't have a link remover tool, so does anyone know how else to remove links?

when i had a minibike we used a screwdriver to take out the links for the chain.

i'd run to my local bike shop and ask them to do you a favor and remove the required links. i dont think there is a "GOOD" way of doing it without a chain breaker. Do it right the first time is what my daddy always told me.

the nearest dealer is a good 15 miles away...and I know my buddys mom doesn't want to bring us. I was thinking maybe we'll try a grinder and see how that works

I just grind the head off one of the pins.

Same, whip out the angle grinder and go nuts.

You will need to completely grind off both pins on the side of the plate that you want to remove. Then smack it with a cold chissel between the outer plate and inner plates. It should come off with a little perswasion.

My dad taught me that if you F with anything long enough you will probably fix it...........But you might tear it all to hell.
