stiffer shock

Im a big guy 6"5 and 300lbs. My 300ex shock isnt very stiff, the fronts ok, but the back is near compressed on normal riding. What can I do to get a shock that will suport me. Dont say get a bigger quad, a 400ex does the same.

i believe a Raptor shock bolts up nicely. For smaller guys, the stock spring is kept in the change over, but in your case, get the whole thing and throw it all in there. Your best bet on finding a used raptor shock is on ebay or over at www.bluetraxx.com

I would send your rear shock to derisi or the quadshop and have them set it up for your weight. Or get the raptor shock and have them do the same.

Check ebay, someone was just selling a pep style shock with a stiff set up. I can't find it again but go to the atv section and suspension category, do a search. If you haven't been there before you should find something.

This is the one I have for a 400.
I have no idea if this will fit the 300.
I would find one that fits then get it revalved for your body weight.
This may seem expensive, but it is alot better than busting the **** out of your swingarm. The stocker only really works if you're around 175 lbs. When I got this back from PEP I could not believe the difference! It never hits bottom and still doesn't beat you up when just putting around. I want to sell this because I switched everything to zps.

actually, is revalving a need, what about just a stiffer spring?

You cannot revalve the stock 300ex shocks. I've looked into getting stiffer springs, but no luck. You best bet is to get a 01' raptor rear shock for the back, and Works for the front.

What about a 350x shock. i just read a post on here about the 350x's having a lot stiffer shock to help keep the frontend down on them. Would it take much to put a 350x shock on a 300ex.

Yes you can put the 350x shock on a 300ex rather easily. Here check out this thread, it might help some.
