ehaust gasket help

how can you tell if the 2 exhaust gaskets are in there where the header meats the motor head and how do i get them out i have used a flathead screw driver and dug around there but nothing comes out....i was told that some of the 400ex'ss didnt have them mine is a 2003.....???

i have been told that some didn't come with gaskets. that is hard for me to believe, but i have been told that. i would just use a flatblade skrewdriver and try to pry something out. a little force is needed. these gaskets are copper color, but it may be black from carbon buildup. i would just use a flashlight and do some looking and try to pry anything out. heck i don't know, maybe there is nothing in there.
