My son has a 2003 CR85, the thing goes thru plugs like M&M's, my 1 friend told me to change the fuel ratio from 32:1 to 50:1, another friend told me drop the jet size 5 smaller, it fouls plugs with oil , I am running Honda synthetic Mix, What would you 2-stroke people do ????Bike is 100% stock.

check the jetting and make sure the jetting is right for the pipe and areas u ride in. i had that same problem w/ my 125 and once i got my jetting fixed i never had that problem again.

One things for sure dont drop down 5 sizes in jets your sure to have a meltdown then. And 50:1 is not good either. What we need to know is the bike all stock? Have you added pipe/silencer and air filter? And how have you changed the jetting from stock?

i had a 1996 cr80 and its basically the same exact motor... i had the same problems with jetting... i found out it was the oil i was using... any oil except castor 927 i would foul plugs like crazy... i tried everything and it was the only oil to work..

i ran 40:1... and it was also the most jettin sensative bike i knew... i had to rejet atleast 3 times over the year bc of temp changes...

they also like to be rode WFO or they carbon up fast

My wife had an 85 also. We had to do 2 things to get it to run right. The very first tank of gas from the dealer is usually mixed a little on the rich side. #1...per the Honda service tech (and personal experience)...once the first tank is used, switch to a good synthetic pre-mix and run 50:1. I personally really liked the Bel-Ray MC1. One little container to 5 gallons of gas...a real no brainer. #2 I DID have to adjust the idle mixture screw a bit. I do not recall how much, but I can remember adjusting it.

so, my suggertion... NEW plug, synthetic 50:1, adjust mixture screw....hope that helps:cool:

...yes you are correct about the jetting sizes...but DEAD WRONG about the 50:1. I hate to burst your bubble, but if you were to research a little, you would QUICKLY learn that many synthetic pre-mixes (not sure about non-synthetic) actually RECOMMEND that you run 50:1...EVEN THOUGH "Hondyamazuki" sais 32:1.:D
